He Came From The PageI’m just your average artist, but I never imaged this. It was a simple sketch, just a simple sketch. A sad sketch. A sketch of my ex-girlfriend and me. Standing in the rain, with an umbrella in our presence. Gently holding each other, leaning gracefully. I looked at it, felt another crack in my chest, and threw it across the room. I felt so angry that I fell onto the table. Gripping onto my spinning head, banging it heavily on the surface. And then it came to my attention that this was silly of me. This is something a girl would do after a break-up. Is there something wrong with me? Nah. I merely started to sketch other things, like cats playing around with yarn, broken skulls with warriors on top, and…a man. He was drawn with a shade of dark blue, tall and shaggy haired with jeans. I don’t know why…but I started to tear up again. But these were real, hard to shake out of tears. As in I couldn’t stop after a couple. I wiped the table from all the papers,
Dead Man's SwitchIn control, then not -
Sudden loss of grip.
Headlong to where?
Details lost, smudged, streaked.
Careening; no system of
No dead man's switch,
On a fast track -
With or without a god?
